Making toast
Nothing makes a Mothers' Day more fun that watching a family bumble their way through the kitchen trying to prepare a glorious meal for mom.
HAPPY MOTHERS' DAY 2005
Little helpers
A hearty breakfast
Ryan took on the role of master chef preparing the eggs according to individual order.  Rajesh heated the tater tots, the children made toast and Joe supervised.
After our breakfast, we all prepared to go to church together.  We received little porcelain pots and containers with a sprinkling of candy kisses as a special Mothers' Day gift passed out by the young men at the close of the meeting.
This was a rare and special Mothers' Day for several reasons.  One--we had several new mothers in our family as well as a couple of Moms-to-be (again).  The greatest blessing was that there were so many of us together all at once to celebrate.
We had my daughters, Kandle and Teonei, my daughter-in-law, Sarah, and my step-daughters Polly and Katie all with us for the evening.  Also son Ryan, sons-in-law Rajesh, and Eric, and my wonderful husband Joe all there to serve and love us.  A total of five of the grandchildren were present.
Another special thing was a new mother dove who built a nest just outside the living room window of the house where everyone was able to watch the process.

This was a difficult picture to capture as I was sitting soaking my feet while FOUR men and a baby attempted to cut a fruit pie to serve.  It was fun to watch them try to figure out just how to cut it into enough pieces nicely without making a mess!  This was a LARGE fruit tart type pie from COSTCO so it was plenty big.
Our Mothers' Day activity was to sit and soak our feet in Calgon while eating a tasty dessert and then have our feet scrubbed and lotioned with special floral scented products.  They guys carried the water and it was plenty HOT to begin with!

Rajesh was enraptured by little Katie as he is still awaiting he opportunity to have his own daughter.  They were expecting their third son at the time that he met this little girl.  He also set up a time to get together with Eric and do some hiking at Yosemite as it is a place he was wanting to go very soon.  They managed that hike within the next two weeks.

Another highlight of the day was the phone calls.
Our missionary, David, was able to make his twice annual phone call!  He hit the jackpot and got to speak to everyone there for a bit.  I didn't get in many words, but it was great knowing that he got to connect with so many of us.  The only other phone call allowed during the year is one on Christmas Day.
Polly made a phone call as well to Alanna, the birthmother of her new daughter.
We all phoned our mothers and it was a day of blessings.
Dhruva learned how to sign "I Love You" at the library storytime earlier in the week when they had a special Mothers' Day themed story time and party.
Later in the evening there was some massage treatment, or "revenge" therapy as Rajesh preferred to call his treatment.

The background for this page was made in Paint Shop Pro from a photo of the dozen long-stemmed roses Joe brought to us to enjoy.  Two red roses were received at church and added to the bouquet.
Roses from Joe early in the week were enjoyed by all of us throughout the week!
